The new technology I will go over today is called the Wi-Spy Spectrum Analyzer. This gadget that wireless network consultants and IT professionals will love, is easy to use. It is a perfect choice if you are looking for a solution to analyze, troubleshoot and optimize your wireless networks. The Wi-Spy works by connecting the gadget through a USB port and running the program that comes with it. The program that is used is called Chanalyzer which turns data collected from a Wi-Spy into highly interactive charts and graphs, allowing users to visualize their wireless landscape. Their are four versions and a bundle of the Wi-Spy Spectrum Analyzer which are as followed:
  • Wi-Spy 2.4x $199; runs at only 2.4 GHz and allows only the basic tools such as Chanalyzer Basic.
  • Wi-Spy 2.4x Pro $599; also runs at only 2.4 GHz and allows more advanced tools than the basic 2.4x model runs Chanalyzer Pro.
  • Wi-Spy DBx $599 The difference is that the DBx series can run both 2.4 and 5 GHz this version only allows the basic tools runs Chanalyzer Basic.
  • Wi-Spy DBx Pro $999 Runs both 2.4 and 5 GHz allows the use of all tools runs Chanalyzer Pro.
